As described in “The Great Airport Challenge” Part 1 and Part 2, there was a tremendous amount of fog at the airport I was trying to depart from. In fact, one could say the fog was as thick as a blanket and not exaggerate in the least. It might be the thickest fog I have ever seen.
After missing 3 of the scheduled departures due to the weather, the airline attendant announced one unsettling message: “If the fog does not clear up in the next 10 minutes, all flights out will be cancelled.”
It was time to pray.
I desperately wanted to board this flight because my wonderful sister was getting sealed to her husband, and I very much wanted to be there!
I decided I had better ask for help, from above, and from my family so they could also petition the Heavens to clear the fog if it be His will.
I had 10 minutes.
I sent out a mass text, including to my children. It read as follows: “If the fog doesn’t lift in the next 10 minutes, they are cancelling all flights and I won’t be able to go. Will you say a little prayer? It is easy for God to lift the fog if it is His will.”
Once I sent the text, I thought of my children. I thought of how much it would mean for them to witness a miracle. I had witnessed many, many miracles, but they were just starting out in life and were still building their faith in Christ. I began to pray that the fog would lift, not only so I could go to the sealing, but so THEY could see the unmistakable hand of the Lord. I thought this could be a wonderful missionary experience – for my own children.
I watched the fog.
It seemed to thicken. In fact, I sent the following text message to my husband and children: “The fog is like a blanket out here! A COMPLETELY THICK, WHITE MASS!”
I continued watching….then began to witness the very miracle I was praying for…..for my children especially.
I had to squint as I looked through the window. Were those trees forming in the distance? YES! I sent the following text: “I am beginning to see trees!”
I kept watching in gratitude. It was astounding that after remaining so thick for so long, the fog was lifting so quickly. People were not surprised that I was taking pictures. They were awestruck as well.
Soon, the trees were not only beginning to appear…they were a bright, vivid green!
I soon sent the following text: “I can see some houses now!”
I prayed that the children would recognize this miracle for what it was.
Within 10 minutes the fog had lifted enough for the plane to land and I was able to board the plane. I made it to my sister’s sealing and my children were able to witness the unmistakable hand of God.
“And that he manifesteth himself unto all those who believe in him, by the power of the Holy Ghost; yea, unto every nation, kindred, tongue, and people, working mighty miracles, signs, and wonders, among the children of men according to their faith.
But behold, I prophesy unto you concerning the last days; concerning the days when the Lord God shall bring these things forth unto the children of men.”
